W Doha Hotel and Residences
Along the bay in Doha, many dozens of glittering skyscrapers are rising out of the desert sands.
Doha is part of the Gulf Emirate of Qatar.
Many luxury hotels are been build in Doha City, over the last 10 years.
When I first visited Qatar back in 2003, there was only one Luxury hotel in Doha, The Sheraton.
Nowadays you will find more and more luxury hotels, covering the skyline in Doha.
Doha stands in the glittering Shadow from neighbor Emirate Dubai, with only one difference.
Qatar still has lots of oil resources and Dubai runs out of oil in a few years time.
Dubai likes to be known as a shopping paradise and holiday destination.
Qatar wants to be the known as the new Cultural Capital of the Middle East.
In 2022, Doha will host the FIFA World Cup Soccer and a lot of construction work will start the next years.
Many hotels are been build, so for the special about Qatar Airways Business Class Service, we could book our favorite hotel in Doha.
On our way from Brussel to Melbourne, we would like to stay for one day in Doha, so we stayed at the W Doha Hotel.
The W hotels is one of my favorites Hotel groups, they are trendy, modern and different than the other Classic 5 star Hotels.
In Singapore, we had our first experience with the W Hotel Singapore Cove Hotel
The W Doha has the same trendy style as the one in Singapore.
At the airport, the hotel transfer limo service was waiting for us at arrival’s.
The Mercedes transfers you in 20 minutes to the W Doha hotel.
As soon as you enter the hotel, you can see the luxury reaching out for you.
At the reception, we where welcomed by the friendly staff member.
Hello Mr Smulders, welcome at the W Doha hotel, how was your trip with Qatar Airways ?
I see that you have two SPG (Starwood’s Preferred Guest) accounts, which one can I use for this stay?
I didn’t even know that I had one SPG account, but it gives you great benefits as Free Wifi in your room and you can collect points for the loyalty program.
Within two minutes, I only had one account and all points where added to this account.
Mr Smulders, you will have room 1123, our Spectacular Room, with a free upgrade to our WIP Lounge.
Start your day, with your complimentary continental breakfast.
Take a break during the day with exclusive selection of snacks and drinks, while watching your favorite TV channel or reading your newspaper, Mr Smulders
Always nice to be a SPG member, but it was time to see our room at level 11 and take a nice shower after a 7 hour flight.
The Spectacular Room 1123:
The room was like I was expecting, trendy, large and it has everything that your needed.
A great TV, with lots of TV stations, a great Bathroom and fresh water on arrival.
The bed was very comfortable and there where lots of different pillows.
After a great night sleep, it was time to start the day with a great breakfast.
Breakfast at the Market Restaurant:
Breakfast is served at the Market Restaurant at the ground level.
There is enough to eat, and the Chef also makes a great French Toast on request.
Add a fresh orange juice to it, and you are ready to start the day in Doha.
The WIP Lounge:
The WIP Lounge is the name for the Executive lounge at the W Hotels.
Breakfast is served from 6 am – 11 am, Lunch 12 pm – 4 pm ( light snacks ) Dinner 5 pm – 7 pm.
There is also a Happy Hour with free alcoholic drinks and Cocktails from 6 pm till 8 pm
A great place to unwind and watch TV, while enjoying a nice cocktail and light snack.
Hello Mr Smulders, do you want to work out ?
After a few cocktails, that would be not a great idea, so I declined the offer.
The W Doha has a great sport centre and Swimming Pool.
As we had a late check-out that day, we could leave our luggage in our hotel room.
The Spice Market Restaurant:
It was time to head for our dinner at the fabulous Spice Market Restaurant.
A great atmosphere, and spicy food today for us.
Inspired by the street food found in South-East Asia, Jean-Georges Vongerichten inspired Spice Market, with a fusion of authentic cuisine served in a casual sexy atmosphere.
The taste was great and it was a great casual setting.
As we liked the food ( a bit too much ), we had to delay our Limo Service to the airport with 30 minutes.
But the great food was worth it.
It was time to leave the great W Doha Hotel and head for the next destination, Melbourne Australia.
But we will be back one day at the W Doha hotel, that is for sure.
